How do you react to difficult instruction?

Last week’s newspaper column dealt with the topic of the “tough stuff” in the Bible.  In studying the book of Isaiah, I have come to realize that we are not all that different from the Israelites of centuries past.  We like to hear positive messages that make us feel good about ourselves.  The most successful Christian books are the ones that promise prosperity or personal success.

While the Bible does make many promises, success and prosperity (in the worldly sense) are not one of them.
