  • Yes, God calls women to submit to their husbands, but did you see what He told men?

In this week’s Free Lance-Star column, I shared my thoughts about the recent controversy in regards to Candace Cameron Bure’s comments on Biblical submission.

  • How to Make the Most of Everyday Moments

In this week’s Free Lance-Star column I share how watching old home videos over the holidays led me to choose my “one word” for 2014.  Oh, and I also learned that I should never ever dye my hair blonde and get a perm ever again.  I may or may not have looked like this:

What is your one word for the year?  What are your goals for the new year?  I would love to hear from you.

  • You might be an idolater if . . .

In last Saturday’s Free Lance-Star column, I shared the wonderful experience I had worshiping with the woman of Lake of the Woods Church at their annual women’s retreat.

No band, no fancy sound system, no smoke machines or light shows like we see at so many churches nowadays.  Just pure, unadulterated worship.

The focus of the weekend was replacing the idols in our lives––those things that we ask God to share the throne of our heart with––with true biblical worship.

Also, the Kasey family is still in great need of a miracle.  If you haven’t already donated to them would you please consider doing so at their GoFundMe page today?

Wishing each one of you a blessed Thanksgiving!  Thank you for allowing me to share my heart with you each week.

    Blessings,

    Heather

  • Thank You for Proving Me Wrong

In last week’s Free Lance-Star column, I made the following statement, “When compared with the generosity and caring of the members of the early church, I believe modern Christians fall woefully short.”

I am so happy to admit that I was wrong.  Because of your care and generosity, we have raised nearly $10,000 for the Kasey family.  The response to my plea on behalf of Lori and her family has been nothing short of miraculous!  Only with God could 79 people come together to raise a sum that large in a short week’s time.

I don’t know why I am surprised.  I have witness God provide in miraculous ways over and over again in my own life.  In this week’s column, I shared about how God provided during some of the darkest days of my life––the premature birth of my daughter and her subsequent 89 day stay in the NICU.

    Abigail on Bilirubin Lights

Tomorrow, November 17th, is Prematurity Awareness Day.  One in eight children are born prematurely and unfortunately, not all of them have the amazing outcome that my Abigail has experienced.  You can learn more about the signs of premature labor and how you can help families who unexpectedly find themselves fighting for their child’s life at www.marchofdimes.org.

The Kasey’s have 26 days to bring their mortgage current.  Would you please consider giving a gift, no matter how small, so that this family will be able to stay in their home this Christmas?
